Currently, we’re looking for a dynamic, hands-on Fund Manager to lead and further develop Triodos Investment Management’s (Triodos IM) impact investment activities in emerging markets. You will be responsible for managing the long-standing Hivos-Triodos Fund (HTF). This role combines strategic leadership, stakeholder engagement, and investment oversight, with a strong focus on balancing impact, risk and return in challenging emerging market contexts.
Hivos-Triodos Fonds (HTF), founded in 1994 by Triodos Bank and Hivos Foundation, is a pioneer in impact investing in emerging markets. HTF supports early-stage and growth enterprises in sustainable agriculture and renewable energy, empowering local entrepreneurs to drive inclusive, green development across Africa, Asia and Latin America. With EUR 65 million AUM and new investors, HTF is entering a new phase of growth and impact.
How you will make a difference
You will help us to ‘change finance to finance change’, by:
- Drive the strategic, financial and impact performance of the Hivos-Triodos Fund.
- Lead portfolio construction, investment strategy and performance in line with the funds’ impact-risk-return objectives.
- Oversee and participate in the investment process. From pipeline development and due diligence to investment decision-making and portfolio monitoring.
- Ensure compliance with high impact and environmental & social standards.
- Represent HTF towards key stakeholders including Hivos Foundation, DFIs, and supervisory bodies.
- Build and maintain partnerships across Africa, Asia and Latin America, with a particular focus on Africa.
- Coordinate internally with finance, risk, legal, compliance, and communications teams to ensure effective fund operations and governance.
- Act as an ambassador for Triodos IM’s mission to make money work for positive change in developing and emerging economies.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
- At least 10 years of experience in investment management, portfolio management or fund-related roles within impact investing, development finance or blended finance, preferably with exposure to emerging markets.
- Strong hands-on investment experience across instruments ranging from senior debt to equity.
- Solid understanding of portfolio construction, risk management and performance drivers across debt and equity instruments in emerging markets.
- Experience in sectors such as sustainable agriculture and/or renewable energy in emerging markets
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to investment decision-making, portfolio monitoring and value creation at portfolio company level.
- Experience working with ESG integration and Environmental & Social Management Systems (ESMS); direct responsibility is a plus but not a strict requirement.
- Exposure to working with DFIs or public stakeholders is an advantage, but not mandatory.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Willingness to travel internationally (mainly Africa, Asia and Latin America).

Your future colleagues
You will be reporting directly to the manager of fund management and cooperating closely with co-workers of the Impact Private Debt & Equity (IPDE) department of Triodos IM. IPDE manages high-impact funds focused on financial inclusion, energy transition, sustainable food and agriculture, and nature-based solutions. With EUR 1.8 billion in assets under management, IPDE invests across Europe, Africa, Asia and Latin America, seeking to make money work for positive change in developed and emerging economies.
